Back to University Essentials

Back to University/College Essentials

It is that time of year again, back to university, college and also school. To get yourself fully prepared we have come up with fool-proof list of things you'll need and a few tips to ensure you're fully prepared for starting back!

Timetable

As soon as you know what your timetable is for the semester, its a good idea to keep a mark of it on your phone or even write it out in a weekly planner. This will allow you to clearly keep track of what days you are in for what lectures and the books you will need to bring. There is no point bringing every single textbook from your course when you're only in one lecture.

Bag

This is a necessity as it holds all of that stuff you're going to need and it's quite a decision to make! There are so many different bags to go for. Satchels and totes to the good old back pack... and the list doesn't stop there. Personally, we feel like a backpack is the best option as it would hold most of your stuff and puts less strain on your shoulders. Brands like Kanken, Jack Wills and even places like Primark and Accessorize have perfect staple yet fashionable bags that will hold all your textbooks.

Text books

If you haven't already got these or aren't even aware that you might need these then never fear! There is usually an email or induction letting you know exactly what books you will need for your course. These can be quite pricey! A good way to conquer this is to search for used textbooks on Amazon or Ebay for discounted prices! You could also ask around your lecturers and see if there is anyone in years above that have the books you need and would let you borrow them.

Stationery

You will be doing A LOT of writing so don't say we didn't warn you... but that's okay because who doesn't absolutely adore stationery! A good way to start out Uni is to have an abundance of pens and pencils kept safely in a cute case. You should also purchase a handful of notebooks with lined pages for your different modules. Some courses, like ours require more stationary like dressmaker scissors and pins so be sure to email your lecturers before you start on exactly what you will need.

Clothing and Footwear

First and foremost, university/college is a place you go to learn therefore the best stuff to wear would be for comfort. However this does not mean that you can't still be stylish as a lot of trends these days are very casual themselves. Just think, if you are uncomfortable in the clothes you are wearing them you may not be able to put your full attention into your learning. This aside, do not be afraid to express yourselfStan Smiths, Vans and Converse are three footwear options that are stylish yet practical and comfy.
