How to pack for a Small Getaway!
How to Pack for a Small Getaway- London
Step 1- Plan!!
Make sure you are planning the right amount of clothes and other accessories for your stay. There is no point in bringing too much stuff and taking up already limited space. We find a good way to do this is to visualize exactly what it is you will be doing when you get to your destination and plan accordingly. For example, we know that in London we will be doing LOTS of walking but are also planning on dressing up and seeing a show. This gives us two options! Either, we find a pair of comfortable shoes that can be worn for both activities or we bring an extra pair of fancier shoes which could mean less of something else! The sacrifices we make for fashion!!
Step 2- Find a large bag that can hold all of your clothes while still looking stylish!
This is important as in most cases, hotels will not allow you to check in for a certain amount of time meaning that you may have to carry your bag about with you while you go sight seeing! A good way to conquer this is to find a large bag in a neutral colour like black, white, grey or peach as these are likely going to match most outfits.
Step 3- Lay out your planned outfits ensuring you have thought everything through!
This is a good idea as sometimes an outfit that looks really good in our head may not be as practical or great in real life. Laying out your clothes helps you see how much you are taking and if you are going to need to swap out anything or re-arrange an outfit to allow more room.
Step 4- Pack your clothes strategically!
Try and pack your clothes as strategically as possible. For example, it is usually the best idea to wear your heaviest shoes to travel as this means you wont have to lug them about on your shoulders until you can check in. Try and make your clothes flat in the bag and fold small to fill up any extra spaces. Every little bit counts!!
Step 5- Toiletries!
As you're unable to take liquids over 250ml in your hand luggage, it is a good idea to buy some small bottles to decant your larger liquids! These are really inexpensive and can be found in places like Boots or Superdrug or even Primark! The ones I am using are from Primark for only £1 all together!!
Step 6- Pack your toiletries and any other essentials!
Make sure you have all your other essentials packed away like your electronics and chargers, any medication you may take, tickets, make up, jewellery and hair accessories! It may help if you also make a list for these items and tick them off as you pack!
Step 7- Enjoy your getaway!
You should now be all packed and ready to go! Just be sure not to miss your flight!!
Here are some of our favourite photographs we took while we were away!!
