Embroidery changes in Fashion

How has embroidery in fashion changed? As we posted recently, embroidery has been a very current trend in the fashion world and we have seen this take many forms and added onto many types of clothing items. Embroidery is an intricate way of embellishment a garment and the handy thing is that it can be done on a very large range of fabrics. However, although embroidery is a popular current trend, it isn't a current technique... the use of embroidery has dated back as far as 30,000 B.C.  In modern times, embroidery is used in a way to add embellishment to a garment and this can be done with any type of material as long as it is able to be spun into a thread. There are also various ways that embroidery can be done, ateliers use traditional hand embroidery methods whereas mass produced clothing could be industrially embroidered by a machine. It has been thought that many methods of embroidery originated from countries in Asia. A lot of traditional dress in these co

A look into Embroidery

Embroidery in Fashion  Embroidery has been a major trend this year and it has had a huge impact on fashion. We have seen stunning pieces of embroidery on a large range of fabrics: from leather and denim to even silk.  Embroidery adds a sort of beautiful intricacy to even the most minimalist of garments but does it in a subtle way. Not only clothing has been touched by this embroidery trend, we have seen embroidered belts bags and even shoes in stores.   Want to follow this trend but not sure how to? Here are a few simple way to add a little embroidery to your wardrobe without being OTT.  1. Cotton Shirt This garment is so simple to style! Pair it, simply, with jeans and trainers for a casual look or if you want some thing dressier, a black leather skirt and black boots.  2. Embroidered Jeans Again, these are very simple to incorporate into your wardrobe. You can either match these with a colourful top that matches the embroidery or simply just a plain bl

Our top 5 must have accessories!!

Top 5 must have accessories  1. Hoops Recently making their way back into fashion, hoops are, in our opinion a must have for everyday outfits or even for nights out. Previously having connotations of being huge and  "trashy", hoop earrings are being worn by people with different styles who wouldn't have worn them before. There are many different styles and sizes that have been worn as each person has their own taste and suits different sizes. Us for example: Ashleigh prefers a medium sized hoop whereas Lisa is more of a fan of a smaller hoop. It's all about playing around with size to gauge what you like best! 2. Statement ring If your more of a minimalist when it comes to your jewelry a single statement ring is a must have for you. Many people like layering rings up however we both agree that a single more intricate ring is our favourite way to wear rings. We are actually both currently

How to Style an Outfit for £20! Being poor students and usually living off a small amount of money, it can be hard to find a full outfit for a cheap price! We know this all too well so as a challenge, we decided to try and style three different outfits at just £20 each (including the shoes!) We headed out shopping and obviously hit up Primark. There are usually some simple yet stylish pieces you can get at very affordable prices. However, we were also able to get some great pieces in other stores and even some on sale! Check out our results! Emily- Emily is wearing a duck egg dress (Forever 21 £10), a dark green long cardigan (H&M SALE £5.99) and white plimsolls (primark £4). This is a perfect summer to autumn transitional outfit for when its still too hot for a heavy jacket but cool enough to wear a floaty dress! The white plimsolls create a casual feel to the outfit but it could be dressed up with some heels.  Lisa- Lisa is wearing a blue

For our Back to the University lookbook we decided to style three different looks to give a variety of options. Here are our choices!! Look Number 1 Emily- Emily is wearing a white floaty off shoulder top (H&M £5.99) , mom jeans (Top Shop £40) and white plimsolls (Primark £4).This is a more summery outfit that could be made more fall appropriate with a colourful bomber or leather jacket. The white shoes and the floaty top tie this outfit together nicely without making it too fancy or over the top. Lisa- Lisa is wearing black jeans (TopShop £20), a the who tour band t-shirt (merch stand £15), a light pink backpack (Accessorize £25) and old skool vans. This shows how a simple black outfit can still be stylish! The darkness of the outfit allows the writing on the t-shirt and baby pink bag to stand out. This outfit is easy to recreate in your own wardrobe as everyone has a pair of staple black jeans! Ashleigh- Ashleigh is wearing a black jumpe

Back to University Essentials

Back to University/College Essentials It is that time of year again, back to university, college and also school. To get yourself fully prepared we have come up with fool-proof list of things you'll need and a few tips to ensure you're fully prepared for starting back! Timetable  As soon as you know what your timetable is for the semester, its a good idea to keep a mark of it on your phone or even write it out in a weekly planner. This will allow you to clearly keep track of what days you are in for what lectures and the books you will need to bring. There is no point bringing every single textbook from your course when you're only in one lecture. Bag This is a necessity as it holds all of that stuff you're going to need and it's quite a decision to make! There are so many different bags to go for. Satchels and totes to the good old back pack... and the list doesn't stop there. Personally, we feel like a backpack is the best option as it w
